Forum: Making Peace with Un-Certainty: Reflections on the Role of Digital Technology in Peace Processes beyond the Data Hype

Abstract Recent years have seen the acceleration of data- and evidence-based approaches in support peace processes, creating a renewed confidence that conflicts can be predicted, known, resolved, based on objective information about world. However, new technologies employed by conflict parties, stakeholders, those who aim to make or build also made processes less ascertainable, intelligible, predictable. Technology thus create both more certainty uncertainty (and about) processes. This forum article presents first collaborative attempt explore how use technology parties peacebuilding actors influences these dynamics. We examine various fields engagement, ranging from prevention mediation, peacekeeping, longer-term peacebuilding.
